1. Our commitment
Ember Venture Group is committed to designing, procuring and delivering technology and advisory services in a manner that supports environmental responsibility, human rights, inclusive economic development, the responsible use of artificial intelligence and long-term institutional resilience.
Sustainability considerations are incorporated into our technology architecture, supplier selection, project planning and client recommendations wherever relevant. We seek to minimize unnecessary resource consumption, favor durable and maintainable systems, support open and portable technologies, respect privacy and human rights, and enable clients and local teams to retain knowledge and operational capability after a project is complete.
2. Scope
This statement applies to Ember Venture Group Pte. Ltd. (Singapore), its Anominal AI product platform, its founders, and the contractors and subcontractors who deliver work on its behalf. It covers our consulting and advisory engagements, the technology infrastructure we design, recommend, procure or operate, and our own business operations.
Ember is a founder-led company. This statement is proportionate to our size and will mature as we grow. It addresses the environmental, social and economic dimensions of sustainable procurement applied by United Nations agencies, including UNDP.
3. Sustainability through architecture
Our most significant influence on sustainability is not our own office footprint. It is the systems we design and recommend for clients, which can run for a decade or more. We apply six principles to that work.
- Efficient system design. We size compute and infrastructure to measured operational requirements rather than consuming hyperscale resources indiscriminately. Anominal AI's production platform runs on a single, right-sized dedicated server rather than elastic cloud capacity.
- Technology longevity. Open standards, open file formats such as Apache Parquet, portable data and maintainable architectures, so systems are extended rather than replaced.
- Responsible AI. Privacy, human oversight, transparency, appropriate model selection, security and governance, as set out in our separate Responsible AI & Sustainable Technology Policy.
- Institutional resilience. We build systems clients can control, maintain and operate themselves over the long term, on infrastructure under their control.
- Knowledge transfer and local capacity. We design around local institutional capability rather than creating permanent external dependency. In our work for the Central Bank of Somalia, delivered through the IMF, the bank's own engineers were trained to operate, maintain and extend the forecasting models independently.
- Lifecycle economics. We evaluate infrastructure on operating cost, maintainability, upgradeability and long-term ownership, not on acquisition cost alone.
4. Environmental
| Area | Current practice | 2026 to 2027 objective |
|---|---|---|
| Energy and resource efficiency | Compute sized to measured workloads; production consolidated on one dedicated server; GPU model training run as scheduled batches rather than continuously. | Obtain energy-source and efficiency disclosure from our colocation provider; record annual energy use of Ember-operated hardware from 2027. |
| Responsible technology infrastructure | We recommend the smallest architecture that meets the client's requirements, minimize redundant data and pipelines, and prefer efficient models where they perform as well as larger ones. | Add an environmental-footprint section to every diagnostic and architecture recommendation. |
| Travel and waste | Remote-first delivery. On-site travel is limited to discovery and periodic reviews and agreed with the client in advance. Paperless documentation and electronic signature by default. | Keep a travel log for all engagement travel from January 2027 and report estimated emissions annually; combine trips wherever practical. |
| Hardware lifecycle and e-waste | We build on commodity hardware and open-source software rather than proprietary appliances, and extend the useful life of equipment through maintenance and redeployment. | Maintain a hardware lifecycle register (acquisition, redeployment, disposal) from Q1 2027; retire equipment only through certified e-waste recyclers, with records of data sanitization. |
6. Economic
| Area | Current practice | 2026 to 2027 objective |
|---|---|---|
| Responsible procurement | Vendor-neutral recommendations based on independent evaluation. The technical specifications and terms of reference we write for institutional clients are designed to support fair, open competition. | Introduce a supplier screening questionnaire covering environmental, labor and integrity criteria for material suppliers by Q2 2027. |
| SME and local participation | Ember is itself an SME. Where practical, we engage qualified local specialists, implementation partners and vendors on international deployments. | Record local and SME participation on each international engagement from 2027. |
| Lifecycle costing | Options are compared on total cost of ownership: acquisition, operation, maintenance, upgrade and exit. | Include a written lifecycle-cost comparison in every build-versus-buy recommendation. |
| Open, portable technology | Open standards, open-source components and portable data formats. Clients retain their data, models and documentation, and an Anominal AI license is never a condition of our consulting. | Document a data and model exit path in every platform engagement. |
| Sustainable supply chain | Hardware is sourced from established manufacturers through authorized channels, and only in the quantities workloads require. | Request environmental and responsible-sourcing information, including on conflict minerals, from hardware suppliers from 2027. |
7. Ethics & integrity
- Anti-corruption. Zero tolerance for bribery, fraud, collusion and corruption in any form, by Ember or by anyone acting on our behalf.
- Conflicts of interest. Engagements are screened against existing institutional mandates, and any potential conflict is disclosed to the client before work begins.
- Sanctions and export controls. We comply with the sanctions and export-control laws that apply to our work and our technology.
- UN engagements. When working with or for United Nations organizations, we uphold the principles of the UN Supplier Code of Conduct.
- Raising concerns. Clients, partners and contractors may raise concerns directly with the Co-CEOs through our general contact channel, without retaliation.
8. Responsible AI
Every AI and machine learning system Ember designs, builds, recommends or operates is governed by our Responsible AI & Sustainable Technology Policy 2026, a separate, co-approved document. In summary, we commit to:
- Fit-for-purpose models, choosing the simplest model that meets the requirement, validated against acceptance criteria set before modelling begins.
- Human oversight and transparency, with accountable people making consequential decisions and documented limitations.
- Privacy and data sovereignty: client data stays on infrastructure the client controls and is never sent to a third-party model provider without explicit written consent.
- Prohibited uses, including unlawful surveillance or profiling, discrimination, manipulation, weapons targeting and any use that violates human rights.
9. Governance & reporting
- Ownership. The Co-CEOs jointly own and approve this statement. Nicole Solowiej leads governance, reporting and supplier processes; Bartosz J. Solowiej leads architecture, responsible AI and the technology lifecycle.
- Application. Contractors and subcontractors are asked to acknowledge this statement when they join an Ember engagement.
- Review. The statement is reviewed at least annually and whenever our operations change materially.
- Reporting. Our first progress report against the 2026 to 2027 objectives will be published on this page by October 2027.
